Conference Champs!

Yesterday was the Conference meet at Panorama Farm. The weather was perfect and we are grateful to the parents that turned out to volunteer.

Come out and cheer on the teams next week at Panorama on Tuesday November 5 for the Regional meet. Volunteers are always welcome, too.

Volunteers Needed for Upcoming District, Conference and Regional Meets

We are looking for volunteers to help us host the Jefferson District Meet on October 23rd at Darden Towe (3:00 start), the Conference 29 Meet on the 29th at Panorama (3:00 start), and the Region 3A West meet on November 5th (2:00 start) also at Panorama. We could use all the help we can get, please let any of the coaches know if you are interested.

Ragged Mountain Cup Recap

On Tuesday, September 3rd, the Western Albemarle cross country teams competed in the Ragged Mountain Cup at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, VA. This unique season-opening event features relay teams of four members, each running two miles. Both the boys and girls took home team titles. The winning boys team consisted of Gannon Willcutts, Nathaniel Hashisaki, Trevor Stutzman, and Andrew deJong. The winning girls team consisted of Annie Taylor, Averi Witt, Alice DuCharme, and Chance Masloff. The boys took 1st, 3rd, and 9th in the relays and the girls took 1st, 4th, and 14th. The following runners placed in the top 25:

The relay races were only the start to a great day of racing. Soon after the relays ended, the open race took off. Western Albemarle runners, many in their first races ever, ran strong and competed well. It was a great way to open the season for both teams.
